If the Corricella is the romantic and cinematic soul of Procida, the Marina di Chiaiolella it is the solar and lively heart. Located at the opposite end of the port, this area is an obligatory stop for anyone who wants to live the essence of the island summer: large beaches, a welcoming marina and a sunset that, every evening, paints the sky of purple and orange over the profile of the nearby Ischia.
A Pass between Real and Wild Nature
Hard to believe today, but the Chiaiolella has not always been the "movida" of Procida. It was once an agricultural area characterized by swampy areas, very loved by Realities of Bourbon who chose it as the basis for their hunting trips in the nearby Vivara. The name itself, a pretty small town that stands for "small beach", reminds us of its ancient geographical conformation, before it became one of the most protected tourist ports and areas of the Gulf of Naples.
The Church of San Giuseppe: A Light of Faith
In the middle of the village the Church of San Giuseppe, built in the 19th century (1836) and expanded over the years to welcome a growing fishing community. Its Latin cross architecture, with a unique nave dotted with side chapels, is an example of Mediterranean elegance.
If you enter, dedicate a moment to the main altar: you will find a splendid marble edict that holds the 18th century statue of the Patron Saint. Above it, a shell bears the inscription "ITE AD JOSEPH" (Go to Joseph), an invitation that the procidane faithful have followed with devotion for centuries. The bell tower and the dome, visible from almost every point of the Navy, are the points of reference for those who return from the sea.

Why is Chiaiolella so loved?
- The longest coast of the island: Here is the beach of Ciracci (which continues in that of Ciraccio), the only beach in Procida where the sun remains to warm the sand until late. The bottoms are low, perfect for families with children.
- The Rite of Sunset: Sit on one of the benches of the waterfront Cristoforo Colombo or in one of the harbour bars for aperitif is a mystical experience. The sun falls exactly behind Ischia and Monte di Procida, creating a play of unique lights in the world.
- Seafood: Along the marina are some of the best restaurants on the island, where the fish arrives directly from the paranze that moor a few meters from the tables.
Practical Guide 2026: How to get to Chiaiolella
Reaching the Chiaiolella from the port of Marina Grande is very simple, thanks to the strengthening of public transport EAV.
- In Bus (New Nomenclature): Forget the old English. To get here you have to take Line 1 (officially Bus 137), which crosses the centre quickly, or Line 2 (officially Bus 138), which follows a more panoramic route through Solchiaro. The terminus is right at the entrance of the marina.
- In Bicycle or E-Bike: That's the best way. From the port are about 15-20 minutes pedaling almost totally flat. On the way you can stop taking photos in the less well-known corners of the island.
- In Taxi: Available h24 at the port, they are ideal if you are traveling with many luggage or if you want to go back comfortably after a dinner on the seafront.
