Procida Itinerary in 3 Days: The Island You Experience Like a Movie

Three days at Procida are the least mayor. The maximum, however, depends entirely on you. If you arrive here with the idea of making a touch and escape or a simple "fast spin", I suggest you change immediately plans: Procida doesn't rush through, you live. We were taught by the fishermen of the Corricella, where time is measured by the ramming of the nets and the movement of the tides, not by the hands of the clock.

This itinerary will help you to give an ideal structure to your days without taking away the taste of surprise, inviting you to get lost in the colorful alleyways and to stop you every time a panorama takes your breath away. On the first day we will dedicate it to the sea and to bathing relaxation, the second will take us up to the discovery of the medieval Procida and the third will be entirely yours, to resume the rhythm you prefer or explore the most hidden side of the island.

Day 1: sea, beaches and impact with the island

Morning: The landing in Marina Grande and the first local "return"

Your journey begins at the exact time you land at Port of Marina Grande. The visual impact is of those who do not forget: a parade of pastel houses that mirror themselves in the water, the ferries that go and come and the authentic life of the port.

Before running towards your accommodation, stop in one of the historic bars of Via Roma for a coffee and taste the authentic Language of Procida (also called bue language), a fragrant puff filled with lemon pastry cream that beats any generic puff.

Afternoon: Sun and relaxation at the beach of Chiaiolella

For your first sea afternoon, head towards the Marina di Chiaiolella, located at the opposite end of the island. The beach here is long, cozy and characterized by low backdrops, perfect if you are travelling with family. Choose one of the lids equipped to enjoy a tintarella session with a crazy view ranging up toislet of Vivara.

Evening: The sunset from the Vivara Bridge

After the day of sea, before returning for dinner, take a stop on the bridge connecting Procida to the Vivara Nature Reserve. This is one of the most panoramic and evocative points: from here you will see the sun dive directly behind the profile of Ischia, distinguishing the sky of purple shades and fire. It is a totally free and unforgettable experience to close in beauty on the first day.

Day 2: The Procida above – history, colors and silence

Morning: The magic of Corricella and exploration in Water Bike

Start the day coming down to the seaside village through the panoramic steps of San Rocco or along the route of Callia. Once you arrive down, the Marina Corricella will welcome you in its total pedestrian silence.

To live this place from a truly unique and original perspective, I suggest you board the innovative water bikes: you can make your own water bike booking at Corricella directly on our site to ride on the water in front of the famous fishermen’s houses. After the activity, stop for a slow lunch based on day fishing in one of the restaurants overlooking the pier.

Afternoon: The ascent to Terra Murata and the secrets of Palazzo d’Avalos

After lunch, take the way up. In about 15-20 minutes of constant ascent you will reach Terra Murata, the fortified and medieval heart of the island, perched on a tuff spur 91 meters high.

Explore its narrow alleys, visit theAbbey of San Michele Arcangelo with its mysterious underground and book a guided tour of the former prison complex Palace of Avalos, which dominates the entire gulf. Before going down, stop at the famous Belvedere in Walled Land: from here you will enjoy the frontal view of the most photographed Corricella in the world, with Capri as a backdrop to the horizon. For dinner, stay near Piazza dei Martiri to taste the typical grandmother’s cuisine in an atmosphere of past times.

Day 3: The Procida you choose

The third day serves to slow down completely and customize the experience according to what inspires you most. Here are three great options to choose from:

  • Option A: The Island Tour from the Sea. Dedicate in the morning to a boat trip of 2 or 3 hours to circumnavigate the island, explore the marine caves and snorkel in the pristine waters of Ciraccio. The funnels are very comfortable and you can reserve your booking of the boat tour in Procida on our portal, choosing whether to leave from Marina Grande or Chiaiolella.
  • Option B: The Hidden Procida and the "Postino" Set. Explore the western side of the island walking towards the beautiful Pozzo Vecchio beach (known to all as the Postino beach, where Massimo Troisi turned the scenes of his last film masterpiece).
  • Option C: Craftsmanship and Authentic Shopping. If you prefer a more relaxed day, walk through the alleys that connect Marina Grande in Terra Murata looking for local craft workshops. Here you will find hand painted ceramics, lava stone artifacts and fabrics of the island tradition, perfect to bring home a memory that has a true story to tell.

Practical Guide: how to move procida

The Port of Marina Grande is the logistic hub of the island: here are the ferries and hydrofoils from Naples and Pozzuoli, and here is the main line of public transport.

The island turns well using local EAV buses. The main lines to keep in mind for this itinerary are:

  • For the beaches and Chiaiolella (Day 1): take the Line L1 or L2 line to the end of the line.
  • For historic and high neighborhoods like Martyrs Square, Corricella and Terra Murata (Day 2): use the Line C1 or C2 line.

If you prefer to move in total autonomy without too much effort on the slopes of the island, you can evaluate the rental of an e-bike or a scooter directly at the port, or rely on the active taxi service h24.

The Local Council for a Perfect Experience

The real secret to enjoy three days at Procida is to forget to run. A guessed itinerary is not what sets as many attractions as possible in a few hours, but what eliminates dead times and leaves you the space for a real break. If you want to organize your culinary stages between hiking and hiking, take a look at our guide on where to eat in Procida in fish restaurants to discover the most authentic premises and avoid the traps for tourists.

Take your time, take a random alley without looking at the map and let yourself be guided by the scents and colors of the island: this is exactly how you live the true magic of Procida.
